Valérie Marty is a contemporary French sculptor known for her evocative and deeply personal works. Her sculptures serve as mirrors, reflecting the inevitabilities of life, often portraying women with overly heavy feet supporting frail torsos, and narrow forms surrounded by spiraling shapes that convey a playful resilience against life's challenges. Her latest collection features comical birds, a humorous bestiary that adds a light-hearted touch to her repertoire.

From a young age, artistic expression has been an integral part of Valérie's universe, deeply intertwined with her personal growth and identity. Her initial contact with sculpture traces back to her own experiences of suffering and rejection, making her work largely autobiographical. For over a decade, she has focused on modeling female bodies, evolving from depicting women with frail bodies and heavy legs—symbolizing her period of reconstruction—to exploring themes of lightness and cheerfulness. She pushes the boundaries of modeling, manipulating and twisting bodies to their ultimate limits, always focusing on the essential emotions and characteristics.

Valérie's approach is contemporary and innovative. She strives to eliminate unnecessary details, instead honing in on the core emotions and personality traits of her subjects. Her work is characterized by the creation of moving silhouettes with frail busts, blossoming hips, and exaggeratedly long legs. This minimalist yet expressive style aims to highlight the emotional and physical essence of each figure.

In addition to her work as a sculptor, Valérie is also a professor of sculpture, imparting her knowledge and passion to others. Her life and work are intimately connected, with her inspirations drawn from her personal experiences and the significant events that have shaped her. Through her sculptures, Valérie Marty continues to explore and express the depth of human emotion, blending derision and tenderness in a uniquely compelling manner.
