Philippe Vautrin is a contemporary French painter. From a very young age, he began to draw, starting with simple sketches and progressing to the realization of those sketches in pencil. Very rapidly, he moved on to ink and charcoal, and after that, he learned the various Flemish art styles.

While developing his painting style, he also developed a specialization in film photography, which allowed him to develop his skills in the finer details of the velvety textures of the bodies and to experiment with the curves and grains of skin.

Vautrin’s fairly large-format paintings typically feature male or female nudes. His mixed media works include oil on canvas, where he employs a method from antiquity called marouflage on linen canvas, as well as works on paper using inks, pastels, acrylic, or even collage supports.
