Jems cehes, canvases, brushes and spray cans

Jems Cehes' works don't try to show something, they actually do! All this thanks to a technique that mixes the use of airbrush, spray can, brushes and canvas...

What prompted you to become an artist? What is your background ?

I foolishly believe that it was the force of things that led me there. For a long time I explored my unconscious through drawing, then, following a training course that would introduce me to a new tool: the airbrush, it took shape on canvases, the colors appeared. Following this I offered my work and There you go.

What are the 3 things that differentiate you from other artists?

Their own eyes, my eyes, and yours, an incandescent spectator.

Where does your inspiration come from?

I do not know. It is I who go to her and she is never where I imagine her. what inspires me is always an accident.

Tell us about the conception of your works, do you have a long preparatory work or is it quite spontaneous?

In my case, the work is born on the sheet, under the pencil, between these two realities. the idea is to detach yourself from your line as much as possible, to let it happen. A kind of letting go where consciousness only intervenes occasionally. Spontaneity must be within a framework, and everything is there: find it without looking!

What do you want to show through your work?

I don't try to show, I show, it's a fact.

In your work do you use techniques or materials that are out of the ordinary?

No. if not the airbrush, which is uncommon. I work on canvas and incidentally help myself with brushes and spray cans. Nothing that does not undo the chronicle.

Do you have a favorite format? Why ?

Mainly large formats.

What difficulties do you encounter in your work?

Honestly, apart from a few financial contexts which explain the cramped aspect of my workshop, I have not encountered any major pitfalls to date.

How do you work? At home, in a shared workshop, in your own workshop?

Rather at home.

Does the work of an artist lead you to travel a lot?

No.

What was the best moment of your career?

I don't think you can call it a career.

How do you see your work in ten years?

Luckily I can't see that far.

What are you currently working on? Are you planning an exhibition soon?

The second chapter of this so-called career, the first being closed.

If you could have created a masterpiece of art history, which one would you choose? Why ?

Probably "Autumn cannibalism" Dali.

If you could invite a famous artist for dinner (dead or alive), which one would you choose? Why ?

Salvatore Dalí. To be captivated, and also because dead artists are less talkative than the living, and a meal in silence is priceless!
