Biography
Dangerous Minds Artists is a studio founded by Michael Lake-McMillan and Alan Stuart in 2015. The artist's distinctive contemporary pop art works constantly refers to and returns to the touchstones of light, beauty in decay, abandonment and antiquated typography.
Dangerous Minds practice is driven by duality. The pairs’ intuitive subliminal dialogue centers on point and counterpoint and the production of works that are, fundamentally, aesthetically appealing and which, on further inspection, inspire curiosity and cause a ripple of intellectual stimulation. Subject matter is considered in depth, deconstructed then reformulated with an essential duality at its core. Often incorporating ambiguous or cryptic text elements relating to a parallel narrative.
Key to their oeuvre is the juxtaposition of the immediately apparent and that which only becomes visible through physical change – either in the position of the viewer or in the lighting of the work, whether specifically engineered or occurring naturally with the transition of day into night.

For just over two weeks, you will be able to see new and diverse spectrum of work from artists that push boundaries of contemporary art while being aesthetically beautiful.
An installation of both wall mounted pieces and sculptural works, will reveal how subliminal unrest with its perverse and corrosive influence has become an ever present part of our daily lives. Pieces such as 'The lovers', 'War Horse', 'Kaiser chief', 'Veiled Threat'... all have at their core, some form of dystopian angst, which subtly percolates from within, to lie just beneath the shiny skin... like Snow White's 'poisoned apple'. For all the works superficial beauty, there is an ever present implication of a darkness lurking just beneath the glossy surface... an allegory of the times in which we live.... As the great Spike Milligan once said, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... Get it out with Optrex”.
Be prepared to dip your toes into a complex narrative, that pulls diametrically opposed notions into vibrant, thought provoking work.
