DeVonmeert is a self-taught Portuguese artist. Despite not having had higher artistic training, he was always interested in the arts in general, in the history of art and in the lives of the great art masters. He is also very interested in the philosophy of art and aesthetics, and his higher education consisted of a Philosophy course. This interest appears reflected in his works in the way he reconciles an idea or a narrative with the artistic techniques he uses to harmonize theory and practice. His interest in the abstract is no less than his interest in the concrete and the inspiring beauty of the most banal things in everyday life and in the world, which is why his work is diverse.
