The series is based on an ancient Greek story about three sisters who have one eye for three. They dutifully and alternately carried the guard, guarding the mystical Gorgons, until Perseus deceived them and deprived them of their only eye, and left them forever in the dark..

In working on this series of paintings, I was first of all fascinated by the idea of demonstrating the terrible images of the sisters, leaving room for the beautiful. It's not their fault that the Greek gods created them like this, but they continued to boldly fulfill their destiny, and even in the terrible there is a place for beauty.

More than million ink dots applied by hand were spent on the creation of the work. I master the art of patience, leaving no room for mistakes in this seemingly small artwork.

Iana Cherepanska is a contemporary artist based in Austria, known for her meticulous and evocative artworks. With over 17 years of experience in the art world, Iana has established herself as a prominent figure, particularly in the realm of botanical illustration and monochrome pointillism.

Iana's formal journey into the arts began with her graduation from art school, followed by advanced studies at the Institute of Art, where she earned a Master's degree in Visual Arts in 2010. Her quest for artistic excellence continued with additional education at the British Higher School of Art and Design in 2015, further honing her skills and expanding her artistic horizons.

As an active artist, Iana paints and sells her artworks internationally. Her botanical illustrations, a testament to her membership in the Society of Artists of Botanical Arts (SABA), are treasured in various cities across Italy, the United States, Singapore, and beyond. Her work not only captures the intricate beauty of natural forms but also resonates with a global audience.

In addition to her artistic practice, Iana contributes to the academic field as a lecturer in the department of the British Higher School of Art and Design. Her role as an educator allows her to inspire and mentor the next generation of artists, sharing her knowledge and passion for visual arts.

Iana's artistic achievements are marked by several prestigious awards and exhibitions. She is a winner of the Young Siberia exhibition in Krasnoyarsk, the Face Control exhibition in Tomsk, and the All Women Artists competition in the USA in 2021. Her participation in various group exhibitions underscores her commitment to showcasing her work and engaging with diverse artistic communities.

In recent years, Iana has focused on the technique of monochrome pointillism, a labor-intensive method that involves creating images with tiny, distinct dots. This painstaking process allows her to highlight the uniqueness of natural objects, emphasizing that, much like her artworks, every element of nature is composed of countless unrepeatable particles. Through her art, she aims to reveal the intrinsic beauty of flora and fauna, communicating a universal language of beauty and reminding viewers of the importance of environmental conservation.
