Born in Paris, 1937. Came to USA as a refugee on the eve of WWII. Graduated Penn's Wharton School. Spent three years as a junior officer in the Pacific, then attended San Francisco Art Institute. Studied with Norman Stiegelmeyer, Jay DeFeo, Fred Martin and Jack Jefferson and graduated MFA in 1971.

Variously influenced by Surrealist, Beat and Abstract Expressionist currents of the time. Learned to explore the paint and its cues in developing each new work.
