Le masque a ete depuis la nuit des temps, le fidele compagnon de l'homme. Masques mortuaires, d'apparat ou de ceremonies, masque du theatre grec, il a accompagne tous les grands moments de la vie des hommes avant d'illustrer de facon magistrale les delires des carnavals. Ce garant de l'anonymat, synonyme de mystere, ne pouvait que fasciner et envahir tous les domaines artistiques que ce soit celui de la peinture, de l'opera ou du cinema
