The first noteworthy thing I remember from my childhood is the knitted overlay on my crib. There was something endless and suggestive in the web of knots. It protected me from the outside world which I had yet to discover. The beginning of my explorations happened in the wardrobe. I engraved my first drawings on its varnish using the wrench as my creative tool. My mother often mentioned it with enthusiasm. Perhaps this was a sign of how important will the drawing become to me.

At the age of fifteen, I gathered my first earnings and bought a set of oil paints. I have never ceased using them since. I used to invent the whole countries in my imagination and try to render them onto the canvas. Only later, as I discovered the work of Vincent Van Gogh, did I begin to paint according to nature. Expressionism was my passion at that time. Pablo Picasso and Cubism were also a great influence on me in the following years. Most of my paintings are characterized by distinctive drawing. It manifests itself either in figurative compositions, still-life or landscapes. At present, I am most fond of expressing myself using the technique of ink and watercolor on paper. It enables me to express my moods and feelings immediately and spontaneously. I find inspiration in nature and in the drama of life itself.
