This work is about a little man thinking in the night. Fear bound him, and the approaching cold distorts space. This work is about a little man thinking in the night. Fear bound him, and the approaching cold distorts space. And now either the eye, or the hole from the stool and the stars are falling from the sky... And I only want one thing - to get lost in the sheets.

The series "Portraits of Strangers" is an unusual story about people with an unusual perception of the world. We are all used to the fact that black is black, and that the right is always only on the right side. And how do those for whom such basic things are not an axiom feel? What if you cannot put your nose, mouth and eyes into a single image, because for you these are just scattered geometric shapes ... And you recognize your friend only by his mustache! And our society is so accustomed to instantly handing out labels and blaming people for being different.

One day I picked up a book by Oliver Sacks - the world famous British neurologist and neuropsychologist "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" and was smitten on the spot. He describes the most interesting clinical stories of his patients in simple and lively language. This is something unimaginable, you are constantly in the full feeling that this is something from Wells or the Strugatskys, that it is all fiction, maybe based on scientific works. But no! This is a reality that we do not see, well, or prefer not to see.
Attempts to imagine myself in their place resulted in a series of graphic sheets.

Incongruous aggressive colors and the most clear forms call to pay attention to the conflict, a certain painfulness of what is happening.

Margarita Suliaeva is a contemporary Russian visual artist based in Serbia, whose artistic prowess centers on the intricate world of printing graphics, with a particular focus on lithography. This ancient technique holds a special place in Suliaeva's heart, for it possesses the unique capacity to amalgamate the cold precision of steel and machinery with the vital warmth of human blood - a juxtaposition she finds truly enchanting. Throughout her body of work, the theme of oxymoronic dissimilarity weaves its way, serving as a unifying thread that defines the essence of Suliaeva's artistic expression.

Margarita's artistic journey includes a notable educational background, having graduated with honors from the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov. This esteemed alma mater boasts a legacy that includes notable artists such as Ernst Neizvestny, Tahir Salahov, Erik Bulatov, Viktor Popkov, and Gely Korzhev. Her expertise as a graphic artist was solidified through her graduate thesis, a series of graphic artworks titled "Mzunzu." Executed between 2020 and 2021, these 16 pieces were born out of a cultural expedition to Africa, specifically Tanzania.

The "Mzunzu" series, which served as her graduate thesis, encapsulates Suliaeva's profound exploration of the indigenous cultural heritage of African tribes. This endeavor unfolded during and after her cultural expedition, providing a nuanced lens through which she sought to rediscover the richness and depth of African cultures. This body of work serves as a testament to Suliaeva's commitment to exploring intercultural differences, the primal origins of humanity, the essence of childhood, and the interconnectedness of the global human experience.

In a remarkable extension of her artistic exploration, the "Mzunzu" series served as the foundation for Margarita Suliaeva's inaugural solo exhibition. This showcase delved into the themes of intercultural disparities, the fundamental nature of human origin, the innocence of childhood, and the universal concept of the global child. Through her lithographic mastery and the evocative narratives woven into her works, Suliaeva continues to make a significant mark in the world of contemporary visual art, bridging cultures and perspectives with each stroke of her artistic expression.
