Percival, painter and photographer, has developed an artistic approach that subtly marries traditional detail with a more nuanced and focused perspective on the landscape. His particular interest is in how the landscape can be transformed into a portrait of the society that inhabits it, as well as in the evolution of this society over time. He finds it fascinating how a wealth of information can be deciphered within a single landscape image by looking at it with a different perspective and background.

The universe of skin tones, on the other hand, refers to the different shades present within the actual color of the skin. Within black, brown, red, yellow, or white skin tones, there are subtle combinations, or undertones, known as skin tones. Like the philosophy of yin and yang, many colors come together to create a single color, and within a single color reside multiple shades. For example, from a distance, we perceive white, black, brown or red complexions. However, upon closer inspection, we begin to discern blues, pinks, yellows, purples, and all the subtle nuances ranging from soft blends to intense blends, warm to cool tones. It is similar to observing an image on a computer screen. Reduce or enlarge an image to a smaller size, and it will gain finesse and detail. Instead, expand it, and you'll see large boxes of pixels.

Through his works, Percival explores these nuances in landscape and skin tones, revealing the complexity and richness of detail not always apparent at first glance. His artistic practice encourages viewers to take a closer look and deepen their perception of the world around them. Percival's work is an invitation to explore the multiple dimensions that hide behind the apparent surface, and to discover the depth and variety that exist in each element of our environment.
