In einer dynamischen Mischung aus Kubismus, Impressionismus und Futurismus sind meine Arbeiten eine schnelle Abenteuerreise, die Zeit und Raum zu einem Ganzen generiert. Es geht genauso zu den meist gesehenen Orte Europas, wie auch zu den gelegentlichen Orten, die nur sehr wenige sehen. Ich suche das magische Spiel aus optischer Tiefe und spektakulärer Perspektive. Ich durchschreite meine Motive, zerlege sie in viele einzelne Aufnahmen, um sie später vielschichtig wieder zusammen zu setzen, zu einem neuen und ungewohnten Ästhetik. Dutzende von Einzelaufnahmen werden zu einem Bildsandwich zusammen gesetzt. Ich will mitreissen, begeistern, den Betrachter entführen, zu einem vibrierenden Kiosk an der belgischen Grenze, einem von Menschmassen belagerten Mont Saint Michel oder einem hellwachen Amsterdam, das mit seinen Bewohnern das Wochenende feiert.
Ich kreiere Bilder, die Vertrautheit ausstrahlen, deren Flüchtigkeit aber eine neue visuelle Erfahrung erzeugen, welche die kollektive Bilderwelt in den Mittelpunkt stellt.
Es ist eine gezielte Dekonstruktion und Wiedererschaffung des großen Ganzen, des Momentes. Meine Motive erscheinen auf den ersten Blick wohlbekannt, doch beim genaueren Hinsehen offenbaren sich die fein zusammengefügten Einzelteile, die den berühmten und unbekannten Orten einen gänzlich neuen Rhythmus verleihen. Dieser neue Blick auf die Welt wird kaleidoskopartig in mehrere sich überlagernde Fragmente geradezu aufgespaltet. Diese Art des Sehens fokusiert und defokusiert gleichzeitig.
In meinen Arbeiten ist das Ganze auf geheimnisvolle Weise magisch weiter gereist als die Fragmente, die von der Kamera erfasst wurden. Das Ganze setzt sich zu einem Teil aus Erinnertem, zum anderen aus Vorgestelltem zusammen - in gleichen der Art, wie wir gewohnt sind zu sehen.

Born and raised between wiggles on the hat rack, mullet hairstyles and a middle-class terraced house in the middle of Hamburg-Langenhorn, Germany, at the age of 12 my dad gave me his Voigtländer Prominent viewfinder camera and three cartridges of Ilford Black and White film.
