Etching by the renowned Chinese French artist Zao Wou-ki. This work was created in 1978, when Zao Wou-ki began to come back to the Chinese ink painting techniques he learned in China. In this work, blue is varying from top to bottom, from dark to light, and it shows a translucence at the bottom of the work, which is an important sign in this period of his artwork. However, in the center of the disciplinarian transform of blue, there is an acre of unordered brown, combined with many other colors, which makes the image turn into chaotic and unordered. But at the same time, just because of this unordered part, the whole work shows a unique vitality and how the artist reflect on the order of universal. It is in perfect condition. It is signed and numerated manually by artist himself.

Une épreuve de cette même gravure a été acquise par le Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, où elle est désormais exposée au sein de sa collection permanente.

Zao Wou-Ki (1920-2013) was a renowned Chinese-French abstract painter who made a significant impact on the world of modern art. He is celebrated for his unique fusion of Eastern and Western artistic traditions, creating vibrant and expressive works that reflect a deep connection with nature and a profound understanding of color and form.

Zao was born in Beijing, China, and initially studied traditional Chinese painting techniques. He moved to Paris in 1948, where he was exposed to Western modernist movements such as Abstract Expressionism and Surrealism. His time in Paris marked a pivotal shift in his artistic style.

Zao's work is characterized by its lyrical and abstract compositions. He often employed bold, sweeping brushstrokes and a vivid color palette to create paintings that evoke a sense of energy and movement. His works are a harmonious blend of Chinese calligraphic traditions and Western abstract art. Zao's art also reflects his deep connection with nature, with many of his works conveying a sense of the natural world.

Throughout his career, Zao received widespread recognition and acclaim for his contributions to contemporary art. His paintings have been exhibited in major galleries and museums around the world.
